I've now owned this radio for nearly 2 months. It was my first car radio install ever. I had to purchase a couple of converters to get it into my 1995 Mercury Mystique. I did have a touch of trouble with the install, but that was only because of my lack of knowledge on the subject, and in the end, I was able to get it in and working.
With a small tweak, the sound out of this unit sounds great with my factory installed "Premium Sound" speakers. I had read in several places that the bass from this unit was weak, and when I first started using it, I had the bass turned all the way up and still wanted a little more. The solution to this is to set it to Loud mode. You press and hold the volume nob until the unit beeps at you (a couple of seconds) then it will say "Loud Mode: off" Turn the volume nob to change it to "on" and you will have plenty of bass. You will also have about twice the volume as before, so make sure you don't have it turned up too loud when you do this. Once I did that, I had to turn the bass down.
I have not had any trouble with the tuner. The HD stations in my area sound better than the analog stations and there are a couple of stations that are broadcasting 2 or 3 streams. If only there was more on the radio worth listening to.
The aux input was the main reason I purchased the unit, and it has been great. I can just plug my mp3 player in and go. I have also used the CD player, although I haven't tried an mp3 CD in it yet.
The only function I haven't used yet is the USB port. I was hoping I could charge my Zune (yes... I have a zune) while driving, but the USB port in the unit is not providing power (or at least not enough to charge a device.)
Of course, coming from a stock, in-dash cassette player this is a huge step up. The sound has been fantastic, and I've enjoyed listening to my music whenever I want.
The one final gripe would be that the station pre-set buttons are tiny. They are like rockers. You press one side and you get one station, the other side gets the other station. It's impossible to hit the correct one if you have gloves on, and even without gloves they take a lot more attention than they should just to change radio stations.
All in all, I've loved the unit. The price was right, the features are fabulous, and it functions as advertised.Get more detail about Dual XHD6425 4X50 Watt Bluetooth-Ready HD Radio and MP3 Player.
