Just installed these today in my 1990 4runner in the front doors and bought speaker spacers wich were not required. Hooked them up to a orion cobalt 600.4 amp wow these things bump!! Ive read some reviews saying they have no bass thats crazy! These little things got a lot of bass plus highs and mids! Maybe the past reviewers were not putting enogh power to them. I also have a new pair of boston acoustic 6/9 these things blow them out of the water in every way! So time to get rid of those and get another pair of these! Get these you will be happy!! I purchased a set of four DB651's to replace the factory speakers in my 2004 Nissan Sentra. My intention was to replace the entire factory sound system piece by piece, but once I installed these speakers I realized I didn't need to change out my head unit or add an amp. I love these speakers. I just replaced the front door speakers in my 2009 GMC Sierra with these.
These are great replacements for your stock speakers. I am running them off of the stock stereo and they sound perfect. Very loud and clear. Tight bass, and crisp highs. I can turn the volume to max and there is zero distortion. These are an awesome product.

The Crutchfield advisor said that didnt fit but I am a DIYer and figured I could make them work. The only reason they didnt fit is because the stock speakers were built into the door mount. I cut the stock speakers our of the mounts. Did some trimming to the mount and then the Polk's fit perfectly.
The stock mount was a formed plastic piece that the speakers were built in to. The mount snapped into the metal of the door and were held by a screw.

I was a little miffed that Amazon put these on special right after I bought them, but I have nothing to complain about. these speakers are phenomenal for the price. They replaced a set of Infinity Reference speakers that I thought were OK, but lacking in definition. The DB651, even though they cost less than the Infinity's, are miles ahead. I listen mostly to jazz and world music, so I'm not a headbanger. These speakers have finesse, and are able to reproduce subtle details that I never heard before in my car. Perhaps because of the built-in crossover, highs are clear and without muddiness, midrange is well-defined and the bass response is excellent without getting too boomy. If you listen to hip-hop or heavy metal you might want a subwoofer, but I certainly don't need one with these. I should mention that I use a head unit with a highly customizable EQ, so I was able to fine-tune the output to my liking. But these Polks were pretty good even before I started tweaking the settings. Installation was a breeze. Got these and the 4" to replace the odyssey's speakers. the fronts already had infinity reference and these polks were a little better in the mids. the 4" were a huge improvement over the factory paper distortion machines.

after changing, there was really no bass to speak of in the minivan. we added a Basslink sub and wow, very nice combination. excellent musical sound, good with reggae and techno etc. fat strings sound great with this combination...but do not expect the Polks to deliver any of that thick sound in a odyssey, maybe if you have a few pairs they might have some punch.

I just installed 4 of these speakers on my 2005 VW Fox. This car is not sold in the states if youre wondering. I upgraded my sound system and let me tell you that these speakers sound AWESOME. Bought these before Christmas to replace some of the blown ones in my 2005 Colorado CrewCab. I was disappointed at first, for some reason the mid's were drowning out the highs and lows. I read a lot of reviews from quite a few owners on these speakers,. the speakers were professionally installed. the power source was a clarion 400w/50wrms per channel amp and a alpine upperend head unit. the results were: not that impressed even with the sound down to 4-5 on the volume and the amp at a neutral setting ; they are ok not great not horrible either. I listened to a jazz station they sound better ,but, pop to rock ehh..They were ststed by many owners as being fantastic ect,ect,. Not so, they are ok. the freq resp is no where near what the manufactor and some owners stste. I was looking for a Driver to handle some bass and let me tell you my old P Gold 2 ways rated at 45 w did a better job, in my '92 honda prelude,. I'll have to try some other brand such as Alphasonic or another brand that delevers,. I've had Polk in the Home good product however cerwin vega blew them away.. I've got an energone 8" sub at home that blows most 10" subs away within $3-4 hundred and above range... "when I want my bass I want my bass ,but, do not want the hassell of a premium sub system in my little sports car! Anyone have any ideas? I purchased this head unit for my 2001 Ford F-150 Crew Cab. It took a little time and cutting to make it work, but when i was done it looked perfect.I have to agree with most everyone's comments, this is an awesome deck and easy to use. The sound and picture quality are amazing. my only complaint is the unit did not come with a remote or else i would have given it 5 stars. I guess i'm hard to please. Oh and also it took me a while to figure out how to bypass the DVD emergency brake thing. even though i do not recomend doing this, as it is not legal in most states, don't say i never told you anything, its simple to do. Buy a 12v on/off switch, they are like $3.00. at Pep Boys. Take the common ground (black wire) from your vehicle's wiring harness, and the ground wire (black wire) from your Pioneer 3100's wire harness and connect them with one end of a barrel connector, leaving the other end of the barrel connector open. Now run one of the two wires from the switch to the open end of the barrel connecter and attach it. For the last wire left on the switch take the green park brake wire from the Pioneer 3100's harness and connect it to the last wire left on the on/off switch. Done!. Thats it. now all you do is flip that switch to on or off if you hooked the wires up backwards lol and you can watch a DVD while the vehicle is moving. Anyway i am happy with this units performance and it was pretty easy to install. if you do purchase this unit you will be happy especially for the price. if you have any questions feel free to write. When I first bought the item i didn't think this item would fit my 2001 protege but it fit perfectly. The system was easy to use after 15 minutes of playing with it. First I plugged in my ipod into the unit ( with the adapter sold seperately). I was able to easily search through my songs and the album cover should up on the screen, that was pretty cool. My speekers are 2001 factory speekers. But with the pioneer avh-p3100 it made my speakers sound like they are brand new. I cant imagine what new speekers would sound like.
Next I put a DvD in the unit. When I first saw the picture come up I was blown away. The picture was clear and perfect. But what really surprised me was the sound of the of the DvD player It was like I was in the theater. Originally I was looking for a stereo deck that would have a GPS feature built into it, as well as DVD, iPod, Bluetooth, and HD Radio. However I found that many of those basic units had horrible GPS functionality and no video. So I dropped the GPS and just looked for something that had the rest. After looking around a bit I found this and was pretty impressed with what it could do. I checked on [...] to see if it would fit in my car, which it did, but noticed that they wanted another $150 for it! So I ordered it through Amazon.

I am very impressed with the unit and what it is able to do. Installing it was one of the easiest things I have ever done. My 99 Forester was setup for Double Din, and the deck fit right into the car and was flush with the lining around the stereo. I suggest buying one of those car wiring kits if you are deciding to wire it up to the existing system in your vehicle. I also just had the parking brake wired to a switch under my dash instead of messing around with the actual parking brake wire. It works like a charm.

The system itself has a lot of power, and made my stock speakers pump out some serious beats. After going through the settings, I noticed that I could even increase the equalizer and the loudness, which made the speakers pump even harder then originally. It ended up breaking the speaker in the passenger side door from the power it was putting out. Other features such as iPod are great. The sound quality is great and the deck has a ASR feature that enhances the sound of the digital file to make it a higher quality. I just used the white iPod USB cable to plug it into the deck, and it works perfectly. The deck also allows you to switch control between it and the iPod, which is a big plus for me. The one thing I do not like is that if the stereo is controlling the iPod, then it is always on repeat mode, which if listening to just one song becomes a real annoyance after a while.

The video quality on the deck is not too bad. It is not anything you will get from HD, but for a car it is pretty good. I put in Black Hawk Down and was pretty impressed with the sound and picture that it had. I also like the fact that I can run video out from the deck and into another unit if I want to. But other than that I have not used the DVD function much.

I noticed that a lot of people who rated this product earlier had a problem with the clock being in 24 hour mode. Pioneer must have read it and fixed it because the clock on my unit is in 12 hour mode and there is no option to switch it back and forth. I did not like the fact that I had to pay extra for features such as a remote and Bluetooth, but I would have to say that I am still pretty impressed with this unit. I do not know if I would have paid the price that Bestbuy wanted, but for the price I got here it was well worth it. I would suggest this deck to anyone who is getting their first DVD deck or wants a cheap upgrade. I purchased this item just before the new year and I installed it last night. this review is short, there are many other reviews explaining just about everything about this great head unit. To put it simply, this product looks, functions, and sounds amazing. With the custom LEDs behind the buttons, it matches the other dials and buttons in my dash; looks like it was stock. Operation is a breeze. iPod controls work just fine with a standard ipod cable, unless you want video (the standard cable also shows you album art on the head unit).
