Pioneer Avh-P3100Dvd 5.8-Inch In-Dash Touchscreen Double-Din Dvd Multimedia A/V Receiver Top Quality

I started out with an Alpine CDA-9886, but after coupling it with their current 50x4 amp and single Alpine 300 watt subwoofer amp to power two pairs of Alpine 6 1/2 inch speakers and a 10" sub I could not shake the thin sound from the head unit regardless of how it was tuned by the installer. I tried a set of Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2 3 way speakers and the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD and there was a world of difference. The clarity of the Alpine setup was undeniable, but what good is clarity with no body. The music sounded flat and lifeless. The Pioneer unit even without equalization sounded thicker and just as clear. I thought Alpine was top of the line and I am beginning to suspect that much of their reputation lies in the hands of classical music and old jazz music lovers who do not have the same appreciation for bass as I do. Either way, the Pioneer will give you all of the same stuff that matters and more oomph to the music as well.... Please keep in mind that I kept the Alpine amps installed.
