For the price it can't be beat. I bought it for $299 with free shipping from the Amazon store. The touch screen is great and very easy to use.
I used the relay method to bypass the handbrake lockout for video.
One huge reason I bought this product is the optional ipod control. Many headunits can control the ipod but Pioneer units allow switching between ipod and headunit control. Why do this you ask? Try any headunit's ipod controls it most likely will not be as nice, smooth and quick as the experience you get from simply using your ipod. Tag retrieval/text rendering could be faster, and there is no such thing as smooth scrolling on this unit. Put simply looking through lists on this unit is slow and choppy. Unless I know exactly what I'm looking for on my ipod it's much easier/quicker to simply use the ipod to find it. That being said it is still usable and the large screen makes it easy to read tags. Text however does not scroll and text that does not fit simply gets cut off.
Occasionally sound cuts out from ipod playback. It might be the cable I'm using, not exactly sure what's causing it but it's no more than a 1 sec cut out.
A minor complaint is that the time is only shown in 24 hour format. It would also be nice if the clock showed in every menu (especially since the radio has the only clock in my current car).
I think most of the issues can be be ameliorated or completely solved with better software. I think this unit was released this year so hopefully some sort of an update is on the way.Get more detail about Pioneer Avh-P3100Dvd 5.8-Inch In-Dash Touchscreen Double-Din Dvd Multimedia A/V Receiver.
